What story do you want to tell?
This is the million dollar question to ask yourself when making big decisions or little decisions.
Life is a collection of stories. Each choice we make, big or small, becomes a sentence in the narrative of our life.
But here’s the catch: we don’t always think about what kind of story we’re writing while we’re acting in the moment. That’s where this question comes in— What story do I want to tell?
When faced with a big decision—whether to take the job, stay in the relationship, or make a bold leap—ask yourself:
What story will this choice create? Will you be proud to tell this story to your others one day?
But this question isn’t just for the big things—it’s just as important for the little things. If you decide to scroll on your phone for hours instead of doing something grounding. If you decide to ignore the nagging feeling that something’s off instead of addressing it. If you decide to keep quiet while someone crosses your boundaries over and over again.
These moments may seem insignificant, but they’re the building blocks of your story.
Every decision, no matter how small, shapes your narrative. The little choices—how you spend your time, how you treat yourself, how you let others treat you—lay the foundation for the bigger chapters.
So when you’re tempted to brush off the small stuff, pause and ask yourself: What story do I want to tell? Because every story is written one choice at a time.
